"We shovel it out," he responded.
"Do you lower a snow blower down?"
"No, we just shovel and throw it up and over the top."
"But that is about 7 feet up!", I said.
"That's why I do the garage floor and send Bryan [his son] down into the basement."

Today Steve drove by the lot to see what was new. All that was new was a PVC pipe that rose upward from the sewage ejector pump, then turned over the top of the foundation wall and down, toward the soil outside the house. It is obviously not a permanent fixture.
It looks like they are utilizing the sewage ejector pump as a sump pump. As hard as it is to throw snow over the foundation walls, it is still possible to shovel snow from the basement. Shoveling water is quite another matter.
