Building UP!

Steve went by the house this morning and found a framing crew putting up walls around the perimeter of the main level.

The shorter west side and the south side are already up in the photos he took. You can see the east wall, still on the floor but almost ready to raise up into place.

The east wall was up when I arrived at noon and they were almost ready to lift the north wall up, and I was excited to watch them do it, but just then, they decided to break for lunch.

As they were leaving, a truck arrived carrying more lumber: treated boards for the tops of the foundations, 2x6s, and floor joists. These were obviously for the other house on the lot.

When I came back at about 2:30, the north wall was up, and they were framing the interior walls needed to support the attic and roof trusses. Note the lumber lowered into the basement of the north house.

The foreman (or son of the boss anyway) said that they would need to get both houses ready for trusses as quickly as possible because the trusses were expected to arrive tomorrow. He said he expected they would have a larger crew tomorrow in order to get the lumber that was there now up and out of the way when tomorrow's shipment of trusses arrived.

Steve stopped again on his way home from work. The garage was almost enclosed on four sides --

--and they were erecting the interior walls needed to support the roof.
