Bring Back the Excavators!

There was plenty of action on the lot today! I will divide today's report into two so that it is not too long.

Yesterday we saw a track hoe and a pile of pipes lying on the east side of the lot, waiting for the rain to subside.

Today the weather man promised clear weather, at least until noon and so they got to work.

It turns out the pipes were really 3-inch electrical conduit. The metal ones would be placed upright beside the utility pole in the back yard; the plastic ones would be buried. All electricity needed for construction had to be taken from a temporary junction box at the pole and run into the house with extension cords.

In order to bury the plastic conduit, the track hoe dug trenches around the outside of the house. And by the end of the day, the conduit was in place.

The metal uprights were in place                       and the green access boxes were installed.

The white tubes are to house the water meters. There are two because there are two houses with water to meter.

The dirt they were moving around provided good fill for inside the front porch. After being tamped down, it is ready for the concrete surface.
